November 2017 program meeting

We’re honored to host Malia Bruni, a Victim Advocate for the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, for our November 2 business meeting. She will share how she works with crime victims and will discuss the volunteer Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (SAVA) program.

Malia works directly with crime victims to explain the criminal justice system, including what rights are available to them, provides court accompaniment, offers referrals to appropriate community services, provides emotional support and guides victims through the prosecution process. Malia works on a wide range of cases, which include sexual assault, robbery, property crime, burglary, assault, vehicular manslaughter and homicide cases.

Prior to joining the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office, Malia was a Domestic Violence Victim Advocate with the Navy in San Diego, CA. Malia has worked numerous years with child abuse and domestic violence prevention and case management. She is a native of Portland, OR and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu.
